Just retired; back to BUD & 4DTV

by "Dr Ed" <edwe@[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Mar 8, 2007 at 05:21 PM

Hi all

I'm a retired computer scientist in the Pacific Northwest, and worked at a

very large software company for years. Ahhhhhh

Now I have the time to do something FUN, and am wondering if anyone is
interested in an ultimate 4DTV experience with Windows Vista integration
and
DVR/DVD creation capabilities. A local cable supplier here offered
DVR/cable integration but no ability to create DVD's from saved shows.
Also, the video quality was inferior to BUD 1st Gen broadcasting, and
would
have been a crime to commit to DVD anyway.

So I dumped cable, went back to BUD, and now am planning to add DVR to my
system with DVD creation abilities and networking. Researching (something

I'm practiced at) the internet I have found little sup****t for recording
HD
from TVRO although cable and DinkyDish (HD criminals - yuck) are able to
do
so with the equipment they have.

With a little effort I can put together a 4DTV centric package that would
be
far and away better than anything cable or DinkyDish could possibly
provide - like comparing Flash Gordon to Stargate Atlantis.

Oh - but here's the good part:
 - FOR FREE -

I've made my money, now I just want to do something FUN. Now if there is
no
or little interest in something like this, it won't be very fun. So I'm
willing to get started and see where it goes.

I'm still doing research on the issues and plan to put up a server soon
for
the project; I'm looking forward to your feedback,

- Ed.
