Connecting 922 and other components

by oldgermanist@[EMAIL PROTECTED] (Edward A. Cowan) Sep 16, 2008 at 08:51 AM

After having cleared up the reception ot T4 600-602, I now find that my
set-up for connecting the 922 and other components to my TV (To****ba
42RV530U) did not work: The multi-component connection, a GE audio-video
switch evdently did not separate the input of the various components
well enough.

These components include:
 1) the 922 4DTV receiver
 2) an LG HD receiver (LST-3510A) (note: this unit also has a DVD
player)
 3) a Denon DVD audio-video changer (DVM-4800)
 4) a DISH Network HDTV receiver

The DISH Network connection is HDMI. The To****ba TV has four HDMI
inputs, but only this one is being used. The 922 sits on a shelf just
under the TV, but it has neither HDMI nor component video outputs. There
is an S-Video ****t, however, but I have found that connecting the
S-Video cable to the TV shuts off the audio even though audio cables are
connected to the TV. Why is this? In any case, is there an S-Video
splitter?

I am using the LG receiver for those "extra" local channels (e.g.,
ch.8.2) that DISH Network does not provide. Since the LG receiver sits
across the room from the TV and the 922 receiver, this because the LG
and the DISH Network receiver evidently produce mutually interfering
emissions, I found that connecting the LG to the To****ba via a long HDMI
cable not only did not work, but I had to attach the HDMI to the LG
using a DVI-to-HDMI connector, the LG having no HDMI output. Moreover, a
long HDMI cable is extremely expensive. an S-Video cable brings the
picture to the TV, but, as noted above, S-Video seems to lock out the
audio.

The Denon unit has only component video and S-Video.

Any assistance appreciated! --E.A.C.
